Vörös, A.: A survey of the Rhaetian (Upper Triassic) Bivalvia from Borzavár (Bakony Mts., Hungary)

umbo is strong and lies in the anterior one-fourth of the total length. A prominent carina runs from the umbo to the posteroventral corner accompanied with a shallow sulcus in front of it. The flank, the sulcus and the anterior side of the carina are ornamented with rather regular concentric ridges, more than 20 in number. (On an other specimen, the bifurcation of these ridges can be observed.) The area behind the carina bears fine concentric growth lines only. Remarks: L. inflata is a widely distributed and well-known Rhaetian bivalve. In some cases it was confused with "Trigonia" postera QUENSTEDT ( = M. emmerichi WINKLER, 1859) since the two forms were described by QUENSTEDT, erroneously, as a single species. Really, they have very similar outline and ornamentation on the flank, but the latter has several radial ribs on its area. According to the new concept in the "Treatise" (Cox et al., 1969) the species under consideration can be assigned exclusively to the genus Lyriomyophoria. Distribution : Rhaetian of South Germany, the "Préalpes", the Northern and the Southern Alps and the Bakony Mts. (Hungary). Genus SC H A FHA EU TLIA COSSMANN, 1897 Schafhaeutlia ? cf. stoppaniana (DITTMAR, 1864) 1863: Lucina circularis STOPP. —STOPPANI, Couches à Avicula. .., p. 124, pi. 29, fig. 1-4. *1864: [Lucina] Stoppaniana DITTMAR, Contorta-Zone, p. 178. 71870: Lucina Stoppaniana DITTM. — TISCHER-OOSTER, Thun. p. 69, pl. IV, fig. 6-6a. Material : 7 poorly preserved or fragmentary shells. — Locality : Borzavár, Rhaetian yellow limestone. Dimensions (mm): length: 10.2 9.8 9.3 height: 9.2 9.1 9.2 Description : Small shell with moderate inflation. The outline is circular, slightly inequilateral. The umbo lies posteriorly, but near to the mid-length. The surface of the shell shows characteristical. faintly lamellose and rather regularly spaced growth lines. Remarks : DITTMAR (I.e.) pointed out that STOPPANI'S species name "circularis" was preoccupied and introduced L. stoppaniana as a replacement name. According to the "Treatise" (Cox et al., 1969) the genus Lucina has lived from the Late Cretaceous to the Present therefore it can not embrace our Rhaetian species, even if the morphological similarity is very strong. It is more probable that the above species belongs to the genus Schafhaeutlia. Distribution : Rhaetian of the Southern Alps, the Bakony Mts. (Hungary) and the "Préalpes" (7).
