Vörös, A.: A survey of the Rhaetian (Upper Triassic) Bivalvia from Borzavár (Bakony Mts., Hungary)

Genus PTEROPERNA MORRIS et LYCETT, 1853 Pteroperna ? deshayesi (TERQUEM. 1855) (Plate I: 10) * 1855 : Avicula Desfiayesi TERQUEM, Hettange, p. 315, pl. XXI, fig. 13a-c. 1866: Avicula Deshayesi, TERQ.— CAPELLINI, Infralias. Spezia, p. 65, pl. V, fig. 1-6. 1891: Avicula Deshayesi TERQUEM—SIMONELLI, Cetona, p. 632, pl. I, fig. 9. 71962: Pteria deshayesi (TERQUEM) 1855. — ALASSINAZ, Endine, p. 341, pl. XXV, fig. 1-2. 1970: Pteria deshayesi (TERQUEM, 1855) — GAETANI, Hettang. Bergamo, p. 397, pl. 33, fig. 2a-b. Material : an incomplete internal cast of a left valve. — Locality : Borzavár, Rhaetian grey limestone. Dimensions : (mm) length: 38.0 — height: 30.0 Description : The specimen is of medium size; moderately inflated. The outline is oblique, bialate but the anterior wing and the tapering part of the posterior wing are broken away. The umbo is situated in the anterior one-fifth of the total length. The dorsal (hinge) margin is nearly straight; the ventral margin of the posterior wing passes gradually into the posterior margin of the shell. The latter makes an acute angle (about 40°) with the hinge. The ventral margin forms an evenly convex curve with the anterior one, gradually becoming perpendicular to the hinge. The ornamentation consists of irregularly spaced growth lines. The posterior wing bears two longitudinal grooves which tend to be parallel with the hinge margin. Remarks : The very characteristic shape of P. deshayesi made easy to determine the specimen from Borzavár. It seems reasonable to assign this species to the genus Pteroperna on the basis of the presence of longitudinal grooves on the posterior wing. One or two grooves are well seen in the figures by TERQUEM (I.e.) and GAETANI (I.e.) and on the specimen presented here, but the grooves are suggested in the figures by CAPELLINI (I.e.) and SIMONELLI (I.e.) too. This is a characteristic feature of Pteroperna which distinguishes it from Pteria. Distribution : Rhaetian of the Central Appennines, the Southern Alps and the Bakony Mts. (Hungary); Hettangian of NE France and the Southern Alps. Genus RHAETAVICULA Cox, 1962 Rhaetavicula contorta (PORTLOCK, 1843) 1856: Gervillia striocurva — QUENSTEDT, E>er Jura, p. 28, pl.
