Syst. 1:426, 1831 Stipularia media Haw. Syn. pl. succ. 103, 1812. Numerous specialists and florists believe, that LINNÉ'S description (1. c.) of Arenaria rubra f. canina (p. 423): "Arenaria foliis linearibus longitudine internodiorum . .. " refers to this species (PALLAS 1778, ALLIONI 1785, ROTHII 1788, and others), but on the contrary (NEILREICH 1859), this description may refer to Spergularia media under "marina" species name. According to LEBEL (1. c), at the time, when LINNÉ (1753) described Spergularia rubra b marina, he investigated two different exemplares of (RAY & DILLEN) and mixed them. According to our esults (Tables 1, 3) this short information may concern S. salina and also S. media. The hybrid species in genus Spergularia was mentioned first by HAUSSKNECHT, between S„ diandra and S. campestris (cf. ASCERSHON and GRAEBNER 1919). The second one was 5. marginata X Fig. 4.
