the type of HALIDAY'S species and he thought that nitidifrons DUDA, 1923 is synonymous with vitripennis. Contrarily, the original drawing of MEIGEN on vitripennis (MORGE 1975, p. 428, Table CLXIII, 8) shows clearly the most characteristic feature of vitripennis, the very long f a — t v section of its wings.
