ANALLES HISTORICO-NATURALES MUSEI NATIONALIS HUNGARICI Tomus 70. Budapest 1978 New Sawfly Species in the Hungarian Fauna (Hymenoptera, Symphyta), IV. by L. ZOMBORI, Budapest Abstract — Twelve sawfly species new to the Hungarian fauna are given in brief, of which two are new to science: Fenella arenariae sp. n. and Fenella catenata sp. n. Three species are re-established : Calameuta punctata(KhVG, 1893), Cephas notât as KOKUJEV, 1910 and Dolerus quadrinotatus BIRO, 1884. A key to the females of the thoracicus-group of species in European Dolerus JUR. is also presented. With 3 figures. 1. Calameuta punctata (KLUG, 1803), sp. rev. (Fig. 1) Cephas variabilis MOCSÁRY, 1886 partim Cephas pravei DOVNAR-ZAPOLSKIJ, 1926 syn. n. This species is very closely related to C. haemorrhoidalis (FABRICIUS, 1781) especially as far as the coloration of the body is concerned. BENSON'S (1968) key to some species of the genus gives a very useful characteristic in the second couplet: "Maxillary palp with 5th segment much shorter than 6th (apical)" (Fig. 1); while in C. haemorrhoidalis these two joints are almost of equal length (Fig. 2). Some additional features are listed below : C. haemorrhoidalis 1. Frontal groove very narrow, at most only half diameter of front ocellus, same width over entire length. 2. Mesoscutum with large, shining interspaces, medially with micropunctures laterally with some larger punctures. 3. Abdominal tergites 1-8 in 9 black, 5-7 might have tiny, yellow lateral flecks; in çf at most 5-6 with a broad, yellow band. 4. Antenna! joints below in $ from 14-15 onwards at most brown; in çf from 10 onwards yellowish brown. C. punctata 1. Frontal groove very broad, at least as wide as diameter of front ocellus, somewhat narrowing towards antennae. 2. Mesoscutum entirely mat, two kinds of punctures, background with very dense micropunctures strewn with some large punctures. 3. Abdominal tergites 1-8 in $ black, 4-8 may be marked medially/dorsally with yellow; in çf at least 4-6 with a broad, yellow band. 4. Antennái joints below in Q from 9-10 onwards orange yellow; in çf from 6 onwards orange yellow. Adults have been netted from Matricaria chamomilla in Galatello-Quercetum roboris association, also in Peucedano-Galatelletum association. Hungarian localities: 1. Hortobágy, Újszentmargita, védett erdő (nature conservation forest), 1974. V. 20-24, leg. PAPP and HORÁNYINÉ (4 9); erdei aljnövényzet (underwood), 1974. V. 8, leg. DRASKOVITS (1 çf); 1974. V. 7-10, leg. DRASKOVITS (2çf); fűhálózva (netted), 16-18h, 1975. V. 7, leg. PAPP J. (1 9). 2. Ohat, halastó (fish-pond), 1975. V. 6, leg. PAPP J. (1 çf). 3. Sátoraljaújhely, 1881. V. 21 (leg. ?CHYZER)(1 9); 1881. V. 8.(1 çf). 4. Mecsek: Zobák, 1951. IV. 29-V.2, leg. L. and M. MÓCZÁR (39,1 çf). 5. Budapest (1 9). 6. fiszafüred, 1951. IV. 27, leg. Soós (1 9). 7. Hortobágy, 1924. V. 17, leg. SZILÁDY (19). Remarks. — The re-establishment of this specific name seems justified, since the original description given by KLUG (1803, p. 56) best fits the taxon concerned. Some may argue why not one of the other two names: floralis (p. 53) and analis (p. 54) was chosen. The answer is that because the description of the latter two rather corresponds to the one given by FABRICIUS for C. haemorrhoidalis, accordingly, they are considered as synonyms of the latter name. C. punctata on the other hand, has a copiously punctate mescocutum strewn with some larger punctures. Ann. Hist.-nat. Mus. Nat. Hung., 70, 1978. 17*
