Szelényi, G.: New Palaearctic chalcid flies (Hymenoptera, Eulophidae)
funicles 1-2 longer, on funicle 3 a little shorter than funicle 4 and club together; wings hyaline, dusky spots wanting, pronotum and propodeum less densely reticulated and more shining than on female, median carina on propodeum indistinct. Gaster shorter than thorax, distal end rounded. In other respects agreeing with female. — Length 2.6 mm. Resembles S. acalle WALK, and S. sandanis WALK, differing from both species by the bright bluish green colour of body, metallic scape, by the dense reticulation on scutellum, slenderer body, and by the coloration of legs. Holotype ( $): Hym. Typ. No. 5945, Switzerland, Engadin, Val Roseg, 16 August 1964; Allotype (çf): Hym Typ. No. 5946, Switzerland, Engadin, Val Morteratsch, 17 August 1964; and 10 female paratypes (Hym. Typ. No. 5947-5956) : Switzerland, Engadin, Val Roseg, 16, 24, 29 August 1964; Pontresina, 23, 27, 28 August 1964; Val Fex, 23 August 1964. The whole material was collected by J. ERDŐS and preserved in his collection under the in litt, name S. helvetica but remained undescribed. In commemoration of his intention I chose this name for the new species. Among the paratypes there is one female (Hym. Typ. No. 5956) which is markedly smaller than the others. Although in some respects different from the holotype (scutellum with slightly raised reticulae and therefore more shining, postscutellum and propodeum almost smooth) this specimen is doubtless conspecific with the other paratypes. Sympiesis solitaria sp. n. 9 (Figs. D_7 ) 9 • Dull green, vertex bluish, antennái groove purplish, scutellum slightly coppery, legs green, knees and tibiae bright yellow, mid and hind ones in distal third duller redish, wings almost hyaline, first tergite and sides of gaster green, dorsal face coppery. Head a little broader than thorax (63: 60), in frontal view broader than high (63:50), face somewhat sunken, therefore vertex in middle very short, measured near eyes slightly more than twice as wide as long (63:28), malar space a third as long as eye (10:32), face finely alutaceous, tolerably shining, antennái groove smooth. Toruli almost level with lower eye line, scape reaching front ocellus, a little longer than pedicel and funicle 1 together, antennae distally but slightly broadened, funicle 1 (Fig. 6) twice, 2-3 one and a half times as long as wide, latter ones subequal, funicle 4 but a little longer than wide tightly associated with club, peduncle not visible. Thorax less than twice as long as wide (95:57), pronotum (Fig. 7) less than a fourth the length of mesoscutum, notauli wanting, thoracic dorsum very densely and sharply reticulated, scutellum 2/3 as long as mesoscutum, almost as long as wide (30 : 31), still more densely reticulated, postscutellum a little longer than half length of propodeum, both densely reticulated and as the whole thoracic dorsum poorly shining, median carina present, callus with about 18-20 long, white hairs. — Wings normal, slightly yellowish, densely hairy, even speculum covered with a few small hairs, closed below subcostal cell open in proximal half, under surface of costal cell with a row of bristles, in distal third also on upper side with a few hairs ; relation of costal cell : marginális : stigmalis : postmarginalis as 63 : 53 : 13 : 30. Legs normal, slender. Gaster almost twice as long as wide (115 : 60), as long as head and thorax combined (115), first tergite smooth, only very finely alutaceous and strongly shining. — Length: 2.9 mm. çf unknown.
