7. Semiothisa signaria (ssp. n. ?) The Mongolian specimens differ from the nominate form by mainly their smaller size and finer pattern, but the two specimens at my disposal are insufficient to decide their subspecific state or relegation. Moscou, 1848, p. 226 Easily separable from all related species by the golden yellow color of the under­side of the hindwing. The species was described from the Amur region, and shown also from the Mts. Altai and the Transbaikalian area. New for the fauna of Mongolia. Collection data. The species ranges widely from Europe to Kamchatka: the Mongolian speci­mens reveal no expressed difference against the nominate form. Collection data. (Eig. 1 : A, Fig. 2 : A) Dimensions. No essential difference in size beween the sexes. Average of expansion 25 mm, extreme values: 24—27 mm. Form, colour and pattern. Forewing elongate, costa and dorsum straight, termen weakly arcuate, apex pointed. Hindwing rounded. Basic color brownish yellow, head and body lighter. Forewing darker than hindwing, especially basal and terminal fields. Inner transverse stripe nearly indistinguishable, outer stripe distinct, slightly concave basal, shaded vividly yellow basally and brown externally. Discal spot small, round, dark brown. Hindwing marmorate, transverse line narrow, brown, discal spot indistinct. Underside brownish yellow, shiny. Cilia with a sericeous sheen, yellow, short. Genitalia. — Males : Valva bifid, anterior section elongate, apically slipper-shaped (widened), posterior section shorter, terminating in a spine. Uncus
