The estimated value can be utilized primarily in strongly acidophilous communities, since the reaction of their substrate is rather uniform. Remarks 1. Only one anomalous species could hitherto be observed, namely Leccinum griseum, which regulates mostly below pH 5, though it accompanies hornbeam through its diverse associations.
