nera share a similar venation (KAWAI 1968) and have elongate heads with welldeveloped postocular region and only two ocelli. However no Gibosia or Kiotina with a central hght patch on the head are known. PERLODIDAE Stavsolus (?) sp. (Figs. 34-38) I 9 : Korea, Prov. South Phenan: Bong-ha ri, on the river Te-dong, 45 km E of Pyongyang, 23. V. 1970 (No. 19). Length 17.5 mm; body 12 mm, fore-wing 13.5 mm long, expanse 31 mm. The specimen appears to represent an undescribed species but is not named here ; it is to be hoped that more material, mainly çf'çf , will turn up in the future.. The exemplar is dark brown with sharply contrasting light yellow pattern on head and pronotum (Fig. 34) ; a short yellow stripe over prescutum and scutum of mesoand metathorax also present. Mesosternum with a sclerotized patch in front of furcal pits, the E-ridge can be traced along it to anterior corner of pit ; transverse ridge indistinct. Subgenital plate large, expanded from base to middle, rounded, posteriorly. Short transverse folds delimiting plate at its base. Eggs peculiar: triangular in cross section, but one face more developed than, others, flat, acting like "ventral face". Dorsolateral faces with prominent transverse ridges delimiting egg's hd. Collar marginal, adhesive disk below it. Micropylar openings few, arranged in short row r s immediately in front of transverse fold, present on ah three faces of egg. Discussion — The derived mesosternal structure fits best with Stavsolus (Japan), but submental gills are absent in the Korean species and the transverse ridge is said to be distinct in Stavsolus (RICKER 1952, KAWAI 1967). No information on the eggs of STAVSOLUS has been published. Kogotus and Cultus (North-America) also have bilateral eggs, with the dorsal longitudinal fold reduced and the mieropylar openings only below. A similar egg has been found in a new genus from Northern Africa by MIRON & ZWICK. Apparently this particular transformation of the eggs occured independently several times ; there is no reason to assume any close relationship of the present unidentified species with Cultus or Kogotus. Isoperla lunigera (KLAPALEK) 1923, Chloroperla lunigera KLAPÁLEK, Ann. Soc. Ent. Belg., 63: 26. 1 çf, 5 9 9 : Korea,. Prov. South Phenan : Bong-ha ri, on the river Te-dong, 45 km E of Pyongyang, 23. V. 1970 (No. 19). Recently redescribed after the type-material (ZWICK, LEVANIDOVA & ZHILTZOVA 1971); known as far west as Irkutsk and north to Kamchatka; first record for Korea. References KAWAI, T.
