Matskási, I.: Two fluke species, Leipertrema vietnamense sp. n., and Ogmocotyle indica (Bhalerao, 1942) from rodents in Vietnam (Trematodes)
reweîli and L. vitellariolaterale are considerably larger than the Ovaria in these species, the case is just the opposite in L. Vietnamense. The testis/ovarium ratio is 3.2:1 in L. reweîli, and 2.5:1 in L. vitellariolaterale, but 1:1.8 in L. Vietnamense. There are considerable differences also in body measurements and in the size of also other organs between the three species. The position of the vitellary glands of L. vietnamense is also a differentiating character, since the trend of the follicles to approach the median line is much weaker as compared to the situation in its congeners. The length of the longitudinal axis of the gland groups exceeds that of their transversal axis. A further characteristic of L. vietnamense is the constriction of the body between the two suckers, as weh as the papillose surface of the tegument. In the description of the genus, SANDOSHAM considered the outer cover smooth, and also ROHDE corroborated this statement. On the other hand, YAMAGUTI (1958:839) regarded it as spinose in the description of both the genus and the subfamily. In my opinion, there are both smooth and spinose species within the genus. The holotype of Leipertrema vietnamense is deposited under inventory number V(58)a, the paratypes under V(58)b, in the Parasitological Collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. BHALERAO found this species in the digestive organs of sheep, cattle, and goats in India. In Vietnam, it occurred in a rat species of the order Rodentia. The collected specimens do not differ, either morphologically or as to measurements, from those described by BHALERAO. References ROHDE, K.
