year, as well as the new component Asparagus officinalis. Further examples of fluctuations observable during a consecutive number of years are Torilis japonica, Bupleurum pachnospermum, and Calamintha clinopodium, present in 1970 but absent in 1971. The list does not contain therefore, besides those mentioned above, also the foUowing 18 species registrated only in 1966: Arrhenatherum elatius, Astragalus glycyphyllos, Eriger on canadensis, Eryngium campestre, Festuca valesiaca, Filipendula vulgaris, Impatiens noli-tangere, Lathyrus latifolius, Mycelis muralis, Origanum vulgare, Polygonum dumetorum, Salvia pratensis, Silène vulgaris, Stachys recta, Taraxacum officinale, Verbascum austriacum, V . phoeniceum, Vicia tenuifolia. Some of these species are accidental; they are not elements of oak forests but have a further origin and presumably appear for only one or two years in the association (Arrhenatherum elatius, Erigeron canadensis, Eryngium campestre, Impatiens noli-tangere, Taraxacum officinale; some others, as for instance Festuca valesiaca, might have infiltrated only temporarily from the neighbouring styep-meadow sites. There are, however, at least ten silvicolous species assignable to the association which disappear in 4-5 years. The fluctuation, manifesting itself chiefly in the disappearance of species during the five investigated years, is therefore considerable.
