Ujhelyi, J.: Data to the systematics of the sections Bulbosae and Caespitosae of the genus Koeleria, X.

Floret Junio — Julio. Habitat in terra arenosa, in arena mobili, in pinetis. Description of the leaf epiderm : On the abaxial and axial sides of the innovational leaves the cells are medium large. Cell walls comparatively thin, minutely sinuous or straight. Costal zone of senile leaves 2-3-seriate, occasionally one zone missing. Costal zone with oblong parenchy matous cells alternating with twin-cells (upper one a silica-body, lower one a cork-cell; these latter weakly suberous). Silica body cubical or round, cork-cell cubic or cubicoid. Intercostal zone 5-seriate ; parenchymatous cells alternating with initial macro-hairs and with sporadic cork-cells, in median row with sporadic stomata and pili in one row each. Juvenile leaves with 2-3-seriate costal zone, parenchymatous cells also alternating with transversally elongate twincells, cubicoid cork-cells with adjacent silica-body, but silica body also often absent. Intercostal zone generally 4-seriate, macro-hairs and pili usually only primordial. Stomata developing mostly on axial side, 50-54 p. Specimina examinata: Dr. E. WOLOSZCZAK. Koeleria grandis (BESSER). In decliviis viae siccis. Kose prope Tallin. Estonia. 1922. VII. 22. leg. et det. Dr. W. REINTI-IAL Estonia (BP., Z.). A gracile plant, with elongate culm, of medium stature. In contrast to most European Koelereriaa. not densely but very loosely cespitose owing to extra- instead of intra vaginal innovation. Lateral shoot emerging through vaginal base initially horizontal and only subsequently elevating. Generally 35-40 cm high. (I found a 67 cm high plant once only on a herbarial sheet, collected by SYMONOWICZ in Vilna, 1899). Sheaths of dead basal leaves lacerated, strongly rugose, but mostly whole. Rhizome ramifying, attaining even 10-15 cm in length, 0.5-1 mm in diameter. Innovational senile blades 8-15 cm long, 1.5 mm wide, green, weakly auriculate, vaginal gape with 1.8 mm long cilia. Blade uniformly lanuginose. Cilia 0.8-1 mm long. Blade sheath 3-4 cm long, also lanuginose. Juvenile leaves 7-17 cm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, glabrescent (only hair primordia present), their vaginae shorter, only 2-3 cm long. Ligule of both kinds of leaves abrupt, bidentate, 0.1-0.2 mm long. Fully grown plant foliose to half its height, in general trifoliate. Uppermost blade 6 cm long and .1.5 mm wide, apically tapering, weakly auriculate, its sheath 12-14 cm long, its ligula 0.3 mm long, crenate, larger than that of basal leaves. Culm usually 35 cm long and 1 mm wide, distally minutely pubescent. Panicle loosely carinate, basally interrupted, generally 4-5 cm long, panicular
