Nagy, I. Z.: Lower Cretaceous Cephalopods from the Mts. Bakony, Hungary

Fam.: Flickiidae ADKINS, 1928. Genus: Ficheuria PERVINQUÈRE, 1907. Ficheuria kiliani PERVINQUÈRE (Plate IV, Figs. 3, 4) Examined material: Three specimens from Jásd, Z. D = 18, A = 5, Lt = ll, D-U = 5. Description: Small-sized, rotund specimens. Involuted whorls, wider than high, with an infundibuliform umbilicus. Umbilicus steep, though its margin not quite subtending a right angle. Suture characteristic, simple, whole, well recognizable. Remarks: The shell displays constrictions, with strong growth lines. These features appear on the living chamber in the Bakony specimens; they are less conspicuous on the older whorls. Occurrence: Algeria (Upper Albian). The family lived from the Upper Albian till the Upper Cenomanian. Fam.: Lyelliceratidae SPATH, 1921. Genus: Stoliczkaia NEUMAYR, 1875. Subgenus: Faraudiella BREISTROFFER, 1947. Stoliczkaia (Faraudiella) aff. gardonica (HEBERT & MUN.) (Plate IV, Figs. 11, 12) Examined material: Half and quarter whorls, partially with shell-traces, of 10 deformed specimens. Localities: Bakonynána, B, G; Pénzeskút, K ly K 2 ; Tés, M; Jásd, Z; Olaszfalu, V. Description: Flattened, disciform shells with a relatively narrow umbilicus. Ribs uniform and even, forming a small, elongate tubercle at their concurrence on umbilical margin. Ventral side with one syphonal series of nodes per rib. Remarks: On the basis of the fragments, the specific differentiation of the subgenus is not easy. Their delimitation from the species rhamnonota and blancheli was based on the height-width ratio. It should be emphasized that I am in favour of using the term formenkreis also here, since the ratio may express, e.g. also sexual dimorphism. The sutures can be traced only partly; in clear cases they agree well with those of the species gardonica. The presence of the generic syphonal node-series cannot be doubted. On the Bakony specimens, this series stands alone and separated —the rib dissolves right and left to it. The ribs become slightly more robust on the ventral margin, thickening occasionally tuberculately. The syphonal nodes weaken and obsolesce towards the living chamber. The narrow character of the umbilicus is strikingly different from that of the subgenus Stoliczkaia. Occurrence: France (Lower Vraconnian); Switzerland (Lower Vraconnian). Subgenus: Stoliczkaia NEUMAYR, 1875. Stoliczkaia (S.) dispar (D'ORBIGNY) (Plate V, Figs. 1, 2) 1841. Ammonites dispar D'ORBIGNY, p. 143, pi. 45, figs. 1—2. 1931. Stoliczkaia dispar (D'ORB.)-SPATH, p. 329, pi. 33, figs. 3a, b; text fig. 108. Examined material: Fragments of various size of 27 specimens. Localities: Olaszfalu, V; Jásd, Z; Pénzeskút, K x , K 2 ; Lókút.
