M. Nyírő, R.: Study of the smaller Foraminifera of the Weimpuszta Middle Eocene key section at Nagyesztergár (Bakony Mountains, Transdanubia, Hungary)

Gen. Sphaerogypsina GALLOWAY, 1933 Sphaerogypsina globula (REUSS) Plate II, Fig. 9. 1848 Ceriopora globulus REUSS, REUSS, HAIDINGER: Naturwiss. Abh., vol. 2, p. 23, Taf. 5, fig. 7. 1935 Gypsina globula (REUSS), CUSHMAN, U.S. Geol. Survey, Prof. Pap., vol. 181, p. 54, Taf. 231. 1963 Sphaerogypsina globula (REUSS), KIESEL & LOTSCH: Geologie, Jg. 12, Beiheft 38, p. 17, pl. VI, fig. 4. 1969 Sphaerogypsina globula (REUSS), VITÁLIS-ZILAHY: M. Áll. Földt. Int. Évi JeL 1966-ról, p. 159, pl. Ill, fig. 1-6, pl. IV, fig. 1-6, pl. V. fig. 1-5. Only sporadical, tiny specimens occur in the Assilina spira horizon. In the N. perforatus horizon they are more numerous and bigger. No thin section study has been made. Nevertheless, the test variation signalled by L. VITÁLIS-ZILAHY (1969) can be well observed. Lutetian and Priabonian of Flungary. Upper Eocene and Lattorfian of other European countries. Gen. Halkyardia HERON-ALLEN & EARLAND, 1919 Halkyardia minima (LIEBUS) Plate II, Fig. 10. 1911 Cymbalopora radiata HAGENOW var. minima LIEBUS, LIEBUS: K. Ak. Wiss. Wien, Math. Naturw. Kl., Sitzungsber., Bd. 120, Apt. 1, p. 952, pi. 3, fig. 7. 1969 Halkyardia minima (LIEBUS), VITÁLIS-ZILAHY: M. Áll. Földt. Int. Évi Jel. 1966-ról, p. 160, pl. II, fig. 5-10. Very common in the Assilina spira horizon, while only 2-3 specimens occur in the Nummulites perforatus horizon. The characteristic features of the species are well recognizable, but the walls are thinner. Known from several Middle Eocene occurrences in Hungary. Elsewhere in Europe it is common in the Middle Eocene, occurring incidentally in the Upper Eocene as well. Gen. Nonionella CUSHMAN, 1926 Nonionella spissa CUSHMAN Plate II, Fig. 11. 1931 Nonionella hantkeni (CUSHMAN & APPLIN) var. spissa CUSHMAN, CUSHMAN: Contr. Cushm. Lab. Foram. Res. vol. 7, p. 58, pi. 7, fig. 13. 1961 Nonionella spissa (CUSHMAN), KAASSCHIETER: Inst. Roy. d. Sei. Nat. de Belg. Mem., Mem. No. 147, p. 205, pl. XI, fig. 2-4. Common in the Assilina spira horizon. Fewer, but bigger specimens in the Nummulites perforatus horizon. They are identifiable with those illustrated by KAASSCHIETER, with some slight variations in size. In Hungary, known from the beds considered as Lower Eocene of the Dorog Basin. In America and Belgium, from the entire Eocene.
