In his paper, TAYLOR (1962) also treats the problem of the palatal indices, but he too, similarly to CAMPBELL, works with maxillo-alveolar measurements. The mean values of the indices of these two authors are, according to TURNER'S classification, brachyu­rane. These investigators have not studied sexual differences. As regards the Hungarian findings analysed herein, both sexes are brachy­staphyline according to the mean value of the palatal index. Figure 5 illustrates the per cent frequency of the index values, on the basis of relegation to 5 per cent deviation classes, separating the male and female data and their respective mean values, together with the relevant individual numbers.
