ANNALES HISTORICO-NATURALES MUSEI NATIONALIS HUNGARICI Tomus 62. PARS ZOOLOGICA 1970. Ergebnisse der zoologischen Forschungen von Dr. Z. Kaszab in der Mongolei. 227. Acari: Pygmephoroidea By S. MAHUNKA, Budapest Similarly to his previous expeditions, Dr. Z. KASZAB continued also on his sixth journey in Mongolia the collecting of mites. The abundant material resulted from extractions made by basically BEKLESE type extractors, operating on soil samples and vertebrate nests (small mammals and birds); however, I received, aside of these, also numerous examples for study from the sediment of the ethylene glycol soil traps. In addition, I have examined also some samples collected during the preceding expeditions, samples which had for some cause or other not been evaluated at the time of their study and which have also proved to contain species belonging to the group under discussion. In the first part of my paper I list therefore a total of 37 species. Though most of them are already known on the basis of my previous communications from Mongolia, seven species still proved to be new for science and four other ones for the fauna of Mongolia. For an especially interesting and singular species the establishing of a new genus and subfamily was also found to be necessary. By this sixth expedition of his, Dr. Z. KASZAB terminated his explorations concerning the exposition of the Mongolian fauna. Hence the survey and evaluation of the collected material also became possible, indeed, desirable, and also justified by reason of some essential systematical and nomenclatorial changes occurring since the publication of my first papers. The second part of my communication will deal with these aspects of the case. The species discussed in the first part originate from the following localities: As-12 — No. 167: Uburchangaj aimak: Arc Bogd ul, ung. 20 km S von somon Chovd, 1760 m. 21. VI. 1964. — Auslaufen des zwischen Caragana und PrunusWurzeln, und Zweigen angehäuften Pflanzenschuttes in BEBLESE-Apparaten. As-56 — No. 497: Central aimak: Ulan-Baator, Nucht im Bogdo ul, 12 km SO vom Zentrum, 1650 m, 4. VI. 1966. — Am Rand des Plateau, in einer grösseren Waldlichtung, aus feuchten Graswurzeln und Carex-Bülten gesiebt. As-65 — No. 558: Bajanchongor aimak: Changaj Gebirge, 120 km W von Somon Zag, 2280 m, 22. VI. 1966. — 10 Bodenfallen mit Ethylenglycol (aufgenommen am 17. VII. 1966) in Sandboden zwischen Lasiagrostis-Bülten eingegraben. As-97 — No. 996: Chövsgöl aimak: am See Tunamal nuur, 26 km WSW von Somon Scharga, 1950 m, 21. VI. 1968. VII. 1968). As-99 — No. 958: Bulgan aimak: 11 km W von Somon Bajannuur, am Südrand des Sees Bajan nuur, 1000 m, 14. VI. 1968. - 10 Ethylenglycol-Bodenfallen im Sand
