Ujhelyi, J.: Data to the systematics of the sections Bulbosae and Caespitosae of the genus Koeleria. IX.

vational leaves the cells are large; compared to their size, the walls are thin, very slightly sinuous and rather straight. Senile leaves with 1-3-seriate costal zone; occasionally the entire costal zone may be absent. When present, the oblong parenchymal cells alternate with cubic silica bodies. Intercostal zone 7-8-seriate, in the case of an absent costal zone 16-18-seriate. The strongly elongated, thinwalled parenchymal cells alternate with the initials of the minute macrohairs and wit h sporadically appearing very long pili in the middle of the zones. In the juvenile leaves the costal zone is even more undeveloped, the parenchymal cells being very narrow also in the intercostal zone; the number of rows agree with that in the senile blades; in glabrescent leaves only the initials of the macrohairs are present and the pili lacking (Plate II, Fig. 3; Plate III, Fig. 1). Stomata (45.5 large) develop only on the axial side. Specimina cxaminata: Austria: Herbarium DAV. HENE. HOPPE. EX herb. FRIDERICI KOKEIL.
