Mahunka, S.: Studies on the mite fauna of Hungary I. (Acari)

Anoetoglyphus copridis SAMSINÁK, 1962 Localities: Pusztakápolna, Mts. Vértes (Copris lunaris), 20 May, 1962, leg. S. MAHUNKA; Bugac, 18 August, 1966, leg. S. MAHUNKA. 2. Data to our Knowledge of Mites Living in Animal Excrement and the Stables of Domestic Animals Mites living in accumulated excrement and dung used for agricultural purposes, or in the stables and sheds of domestic animals, were hitherto hardly investigated. My attention was called to the extremely rich and diverse fauna by human-parasitological researches ; some results of my studies have already been submitted in an earlier paper. Some recent damages, ascribed to mites, and the examination of excrement accumulating under natural conditions, prompted the continuation of my studies. The renewed collecting activities have again corroborated the presence of ain ext remely interesting and varying fauna in these special habitats. Owing to the copous material at my disposal, I propose to publish a series of papers dealing with my results; the present contribution discusses species extracted from bat guano and horse manure accumulated in and beside a stable situated in a wood in the Mts. Börzsöny. The data of the respective localities are as follows : No. 985: Oriszentpéter, Com. Vas, bat guano accumulated in the steeple of a church, 22 June, 1967, leg. E. MÉSZÁROS. No. 987: bat guano, Pisznice cave, Mts. Gerecse, 27 July, 1967, leg. E. MÉSZÁROS. No. 1005: the Utter and detritus or soil of a wooden horsestable, Hajagos, Mts Börzsöny, 10 Sept., 1967, leg. S. MAHUNKA. No. 1006: different parts of a dung-heap mixed with straw, near the above stable, Hajagos, Mts. Börzsöny, 10 Sept., 1967, leg. S. MAHUNKA. Mesostiginata Parazercon sarakensis (WILLMANN, 1939) New for the fauna of Hungary. Locality: No. 1006. Trombidiformes ÎPediculaster mesembrinae (CANESTINI, 1880) The identification requires further study. Locality: No. 1005. Pygmephorus erlangensis KRCZAL, 1959 New for the fauna of Hungary. Locality: No. 1005. Pygmephorus spinosus KRAMER, 1877 Locality: No. 987; No. 1006. Neopygmephorus* centriger (Cooremann, 1951) The already published male sex of the species was again found, together with a great number of females. Locality: No. 1005; No. 1006. * A part of the genera established in CROSS'S great work still requires further study and proof. However, the separation of the old genus Pygmepliorus from the other species comprising the tribe Neopygmephorini seems to be justified.
