Bubo a. africanus TEMM. 1 (unsex) Occuring in Central and South Africa ; not rare. Fam. Coliidae 21. Colius striatus mombassicus VAN SOM. 21 (14 çf 7 $) Of a small range, the bird inhabits only NE Tanganyika and E Kenya; there it is not rare. 22. Colius macrourus pulcher NEUM. 1 (çf) Of a considerably wider range and also more common than the preceding one. Fam. Capitonidae 23. Lybius bidentatus aequatorialis SHELLEY 11 (5 çf 4 9 2 unsex) A typically Central African subspecies, inhabiting only the western parts of Tan­ganyika. The collected specimens derive from the eastern confines of its range. 24. Tricholaema I. lacrymosum Cab. 40 (21 çf 18 9 1 unsex) Of a relatively very restricted range, frequent in the research area. 25. Pogoniulus pusillus a//jm's REICHW. 3 (1 çf 2 9) Occuring, and not rare, in the larger part of East Africa. Fam. Indie atoridae 26. Indicator m. minor STEPH. 2(9) Inhabiting almost the entire Central and East Africa, but rarely observable, owing to its secretive habits. 27. Prodotiscus insignis ellenbecki ERL. 1(9) Inhabiting only the central parts of Central Africa; not frequent. Fam. Picidae 28. Campethera n. nubica BODD. 2 (1 çf 1 9) Of a large range, the bird inhabits rather the northern confines of East Africa. Not rare. 29. Budytes f. flavus L. 2 (çf 9) The Central European nesting bird is frequent in the entire East African region: during the winter. 34. Anthus t. triviális L. 1 ( 9 ) A European species, everywhere common in East Africa during the winter. 35. Macronyx aurantiigula REICHW. 2(9) Of a small range, but not rare.
