Pócs, t. ; Tixier, p.: On the ciliferous Syrrhopodon species in Asia

134 T. Pócs & P. TIXIER The present study aimed to solve only a handful of problems concerning the difficult genus Syrrhopodon abounding in species. Even the delimited scope of our study makes it apparent that a modern revision of the Asiatic species of the genus is urgently needed. Summary There live three widely ranging, vicarious and ciliferous Syrrhopodon species in Asia. Syrrhopodon larminati PAR. & BROTH, (syn. n. : S. tsushimae CARD., Trichostomum doii SAK.,Syrrhopodon doii (SAK.) BAK.,S. philippinensis BARTR.) ranges from Assam through Vietnam to Japan, Syrrhopodon spiculosus HOOK. & GREV. (syn. n. : S. horridulus FLEISCH.) from Ceylon through Malacca to the Philippines, and Syrrhopodon ciliatus (HOOK.) SCHWAEGR. from Indonesia to Oceania. References: BARTRAM, E.
