Berinkey, L.: Further morphological and osteological investigations on the hybrids of Hungarian Cyprinids
D. III 8—9 (10) A. III (9) 10—11 (12). In the hybrids, I found the following values : Nr. 1. D. Ill 8, A. Ill 11 ; Nr. 2. D. Ill 8, A. Ill 11 (B e n e c k e [3] gives A. Ill 10—12, Berg [4] A. Ill 14—15). The number of the rays agree therefore with that of the rudd, but, with regard to the shape of the fin, the hybrids are transitional between the two parental species, because, though the fin is short and the rays do not shorten backwards (a rudd character), its edge is straight and not concavely arched (bleak character). n Q The scale formula of the bleak is lin. lat. (45) 46 52 (53—55), that of the rudd : (37) 38 — 8 42 (43) ; in hybrid Nr. 1. 43 ? -, in Nr. 2. 46 ? , therefore 3-4 3 3 one of them displays rudd, the other bleak, characters. B e n e c k e (3) found 45—47 scales in 8 examined specimens. The shape of the scales of the hybrids agrees with that of the bleak, the oral part is smaller than the caudal also in their cases, while the two parts are of a uniform size in the rudd. The number of the branchial spines is 18—22 in the bleak, and 11—12 in the rudd ; it is 16 in hybrid Nr. 1., thus we have a transitional value. The comparision of the size-measurements is to be found in Table I, showing the average values found in the parental species as well as the individual and summarized data. Table I.
