Laczkóhegy, leg. Bohus&Babos. Mycocoenological survey data (Bohus&Babos 1958) : in the Mts. Pilis : in Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum, 28 August 1955, near the Lake Rekettyés ; in the Mts. Zemplén : in Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum fagetosum, 16 July, 2—3 Sept. 1958, Mt. Laczkóhegy. Russula vinosopurpurea J, Schff. In Hungary, where the extense of the coniferous woods are much smaller than that of the deciduous forests, there is only one frequent species of the subsection Urentinae, the usually moderately acrid R. vinosopurpurea. Until S c h a e f f e r's discussion on R. vinosopurpurea (1938), there was no other choice but to draw the relevant material under the species R. veternosa sensu lato, — since no one had thoroughly^ studied this problem till then. Even after the description of the new species, there still remained some problematic material due to the narrower delimitation of colors. Schaeffer, in his Russula Monographie (1952), extended further the color limitations of R. vinosopurpurea. The home material requires even wider color limits, since there happened once that we found, within a small area of a forest type, almost all color variations. Thus, the cap colors of this species, fructifying in various kinds of deciduous forest associations, and of a habit and hues resembling oftenly R. intégra, may be the following ones : yellowish red, warm red, fleshy red, rosy red, morello red, wine red, brownish wine red, purple, violet, greyish violaceous, brownish red, greyish green, olive green in middle and red in margins, its center may be ochreous yellow, olive yellow r , rarely wholly ochreous yellow. The spore patterns are : 3d, 4d, 4e, then with mostly blunter spines : 5d, 4f, sometimes 2f (Schaeffer's spore table 1952); the longitudinal measurements of the spores may sometimes be also greater than those given by Schaeffer (—lift). Its range in Europe is less known. On the basis of coenological observations, it seems to be association-indifferent. Herb. : 27 data from the areas of the Central Mountains and the Western Transdanubium' Lit. : in the Mts. Buda : Hűvösvölgy (K a 1 m á r) Bohus (1946). Mycocoenological survey data (Bohus&Babos 1958) : In the course of coenological surveys, it was found in the following associations, that is, forest types and in a transitional beech stock in the Hungarian Central Mountains : Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum, LuzuloQuercetum subcarpaticum fagetosum, Luzulo-Quercetum subcarpaticum Dicranum facies, Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum, Potentillo-Quercetum (petraea, cerris) pannonicum poetosum nemoralis, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum, Querceto petraeae-Carpinetum pannonicum caricetosum pilosae. R. vinosopurpurea occured also in the association MahalebetoQuercetum pubescentis, (leg. Bohus, 13 July 1948) ; and we collected it also in mixed coniferous forests (many Pinus, less Abies and Larix) in the Mts. Zemplén. Russula violacea Quel. Not rare in some areas in Europe (the Alps, etc.), but there is only one datum known from Hungary ; the specimens were identified by Schaeffer. Lit. : sub nom. R. fallax, Fr. sensu Sing.: around Budapest : Kamaraerdő (det. Scliacff e r, J.) Bolm s (1943).
