termen, darkest in basal field ; pattern indistinct, consisting of a broad dark grey band with some brownish-black hue, a large spot at end of cell and a very indistinct submarginal line indicated mostly by dark dots on veins, and all of same dark color. Ciliae lighter, with a dark line. Hindwings semitransparent, a light greyish white. Abdomen brownish-grey (fig. 1 : E). Of the general appearance of a Phycita but unmistakable by its divergent generic characters. Male genital organ very complicated. Uncus large, subtriangular, pointed, gnathos a strong, pointed hook, valvae light, membraneous, elongate, their tips bent slightly upwards, dorsally with strongly chitinized horn-like supports, vinculum elongate, U-shaped, aedeagus broad, blunt, short, with but one long cornutus (fig. 2 : A) ; seventh sternite like a pincer with two dark, chitin­ized arms (fig. 1 : F) ; coremata very long, with asymmetrical and chitinous, scale-like lamellae (fig. 2 : B). Holotype male : Marsa el Alam on the Red Sea, Egypt, 1 Nov. 1957, leg. dr. Gozmány; deposited in the Microlepidoptera Collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum. Ommatopteryx Szijjártói sp. n. Alar exp. : 14—16 mm. Head, thorax, scapulae a light yellowish-brown, labial palpi ditto but suffused with a dark russet brown. Forewing yellowish-brown, darkening
