HERRMANN, Budapest Author establishes the following facts in her paper : 1. Two types can be distinguished on the basis of heavy mineral associations in the Miocene sand strata of Várpalota, owing to cross stratification. 2. Comparing the heavy mineral associations of the Miocene and Pannonian sand strata, it is now proved that, on the ground of essential differences, the heavy mineral associations may also be used to separate, that is, to identify the several ages.
