Szelényi, G.: Notes on the Merisina (Hym., Chalcidoidea)
Thorax nearly twice as long as broad (1 : 1,7), pronotum somewhat less than half the length of the mesoscutum, rounded above, declining moderately anteriorly ; mesoscutum a little broader than the pronotum, parapsidal furrows slightly impressed at the anterior half ; scutellum longer than broad, a little longer than the mesoscutum, strongly convex ; head and mesoscutum sharply reticulate, this sculpture on the scutellum somewhat more dense ; propodeum medially feebly reticulated, strongly shining, at the lateral angles nearly smooth more shining ; spiracles almost circular, median carina and spiracular sulci as well as plicae absent ; neck clearly developed, about half the length of the propodeum. Legs normal, slender ; wings hyaline, surpassing the tip of the abdomen, discal ciliae dusky, the longest marginal ciliae shorter than one third of the length of the stigmalis ; subcostal cell bare, basal vein represented by a row of minute bristles ; Relative length of the subcostalis : marginális : stigmalis : postmarginalis as 4 : 2 : 1 : 2. Abdomen (without ovipositor) of the length of the thorax, and somewhat broader (1 : 1 and 1 : 1,2, respectively), strongly shining, pointed at apex, the tip of the ovipositor visible. Length : 1.5—1.7 mm. Male. Differs from the female chiefly in the form of the antennae and that of the abdomen. Head less thick than in the female, but hind ocelli clearly more far away from the hind margin of the vertex than from the eye margin. Scape black, yellowish only at the very base ; funicle 1 not ring-shaped, about as long as the pedicel ; funicle 1—3 clearly longer than wide, the following joints subquadrate, each covered with white, long hairs, surpassing in length somewhat the width of the respective joint ; the hairs of the terminal joints a little shorter ; club distinctly 3-jointed, nearly tapering at apex, a little shorter than the three preceding joints combined. Propodeum with neck finely but sharply reticulate. Relative length of the subcostalis : marginális : stigmalis : postmarginalis as : 3,4 : 1,4 : 1 : 1,4. Abdomen about as long and as wide as thorax, less pointed at apex, brown, with washed yellowish spot at the proximal third and with a faint metallic tint especially at the base. Length : 1.3—1.6 mm. Differs from H. fulviventris Walk, by the shorter cheeks, the thicker head, the color of the legs and abdomen, and the ring-shaped funicle 2. Holotype : Hungary, Nagykovácsi : Nagyszénás, VI. 1954. Allotype at the same locality but 10. VI. 1953. Paratypes : at the same locality, 10. VI. 1953 (1 female 3 males) ; Üröm : Nàgykevély, 13. VII. 1947 (2 females). Notes on the variability. On two female specimens (locality : Nàgykevély) only the basal third of the scape yellowish-white, the thorax, especially the propodeum, all over green, the abdomen to a great extent yellow, brownish only along the sides and on the hind margin of the anterior tergites, the first funicle joint (in one specimen) hardly transverse and nearly as long as half the length of the following joint (but on the same specimen the head distinctly thicker!); the propodeum on both specimens with a tolerably sharp reticulation medially. Homoporus (Pseudomerisus) simplex sp. n. Female. Bright green, head dull blue, propodeum golden green, scape metallic green, funicle and pedicel brown, somewhat lighter below, club yellow ; legs clear yellow, coxae metallic green, outer side of the femora with brownish 12 Term.
