Dimensions given in millimeters: The first number represents the length of the head and body, the second that of the tail, the third that of the hind foot, the fourth that of the ear. Almost all these specimens are preserved in spirit. 2. Pitymys subterraneus Wettsteini n. subsp. Type locality: Hungary. Further particulars unknown. (Hung. Nat. Mus. No. 3412). Description: It is much darker than either the P. subterraneus or also the P. subt. Kupelwieseri which is darker even of the latter one. The upper part of the body is plain dark brown, its lower part is slategray. The legs are covered with dark brown hair. The tail is dark brown
