A leírt példány fogazata tehát rendszertani szempontból nem vizsgálható. A koponya csontjain azonban a legszorgalmasabb kutatás dacára sem tudtam kóros elváltozást felfedezni és épen ezért kénytelen voltam állatomat mint újat leírni. A Pitymys dacius MiLL.-rel való összefüggése kétségtelen, amit a koponya rendkívül lapos volta és az erősen hajlott nasaliák is bizonyítanak. Sajnos MILLER leírásából nem tűnik ki, hogy a P. dacius-on mekkora a nasaliák hajlásszöge, de minthogy ő a P. subterraneus-on a nasaliák hajlásszögét ll°-ra veszi, a P. dacius leírásában pedig csak erősebben hajlottnak minősíti azokat, fel lehet tételeznem, hogy több mint kétszeres hajlásfokbeli különbséget jobban kiemelt volna. Ebből önként következik, hogy P. dacius hungaricus nasaliáinak hajlásszögét nagyobbnak gondolom, mint a törzsalakét. Hasonlóképen a P. dacius hungaricus koponyáját is laposabbnak tartom. Mindezekhez hozzáadva, hogy a P. dacius hungaricus nagyobb is, eléggé indokoltnak vélem, hogy állatomat mint új alfajt ismertessem. An old cherished ambition of mine was the monographical description the voles of Hungary. It is especially the earthvole of Hungary of which we have almost no knowledge, so that my choice fell on it. I am far from asserting that my treatise is an exhaustive study of all earthvoles in Hungary, it is to be considered but a modest basis establishing the facts of our present knowledge. In preparing my paper, I have been supported by Mr. RAEEAELO GESTRO, director of the Genoa Museum and by Mr. OTTO WETTSTEIN, official of the Vienna State Museum with material for comparison. Besides that Mr. A. B. HOWELL, assistant of the Washington National Museum, Mr. B. S. VINOGRADOV, employee of the Petrograde Academy (Zoological Museum) and Mr. WETTSTEIN put willingly their data of scientific literature to my diposition. My colleague, BR.
