166 TH. BECKER. Cephaloconus W ALK. boem. Corpus breviusculum. subconvexum. Caput thorace vix bre­vius ; facies elongata, porrecta, conica ; peristoma minimum. Proboscis et palpi brevissima. Antennne brevissimae. articulo 3° conico, arista nuda. Scutellum productum. Abdomen longiconicum, thorace paulo bre­vius. Pedes breviusculi, tibiis tarsisque gracilibus. Alse mediocres. Female. Body rather short, slightly convex. Head nearly as long as the thorax : the face elongated, porrect and conical ; peristoma very small. Proboscis and palpi very short. Antennae very short; 3 r d joint conical ; arista simple, slender, about four times the length of the 3 r4 joint. Scutellum prominent. Abdomen elongate-conical, shorter and a little narrower than the thorax. Legs rather short ; tibiap and tarsi slender. Wings of moderate size ; veins straight ; praebrachial vein beyond the discal transverse vein slightly converging towards the cu­bital vein. 196. Cephaloconus tenebrosus WALK. boem. Cinereo-niger, obscurus, capite nitente lineis quinque flavis^ antennis luteis, metathorace testaceo, tibiis, tarsis halteribusque pallida tlavis, alis nigris postice cinereis. Female. Cinereous black, dull. Head shining black, with five yellow lines —two above, one on each side and one beneath ; front piceous, slightly interlined with yellow. Antennae luteous. Metathorax testaceous. Tibiae and tarsi pale yellow. Wings black, cinereous along the hind border ; veins black : discal transverse vein straight, nearly upright, parted by half its length from the border, and by a little more than twice its length from the praebrachial transverse vein ; halteres pale yellow. Length of the body 2 lines; of the wings 3*2 lines. New r­Guinea. Anmerkung. Ich reproduziere vorstehend die WALKER'sche Beschreibung seiner Gattung Cephaloconus, von der ich annehme, dass sie hierher gehört ; jedoch geschieht dies immerhin nur mit gewissem Vorbehalt, da es mir nicht möglich war, die Type vergleichen zu kön­nen ; sie scheint mir mit Pseudearina MEIJERE als Gattung zusammen zu fallen.
