ANNUAL REPORT - A 2007. ÉV - KATA BODOR: A Magical Eccentric: The Art of Friedensreich Hundertwasser
8 INTERIOR VIEW OF THE EXHIBITION would be able to utilise all of its refuse and thanks to the vegetation planted in them would bring fresh air to their inhabitants. He even created the prototype of the humus toilet facilitating recycling —it was on display in a separate room of the exhibition. Over the years Hundertwasser returned to his watercolours and paintings —some of which are displayed at the exhibition —and reworked them or adapted them to make reproductive prints. This is how he produced his woodcuts, silkscreens and copper engravings. Weavers made tapestries inspired by his paintings and he discovered a new medium for his unique visual world when he began designing covers for books. The exhibition provided a comprehensive picture of Hundertwasser's oeuvre, which covered a wide spectrum of genres. The paintings on display ranged from the experiments of his childhood to the works from his mature years. In selecting his graphics for the exhibition we attempted to present the diversity of the genres he worked with as well as the different artistic periods of his career. The tapestries, book covers, and Japanese kites were included in the exhibition to illustrate the artist's inexhaustible artistic creativity. Photographs were on display in a separate hall to provide visitors w r ith an insight into Hundertwasser's buildings with an unconventional design of surfaces and shapes. Kata Bodor
