ANNUAL REPORT 2005 - A 2005. ÉV - FERENC TÓTH: Women: The Art of Gaston Lachaise

75 INTERIOR VIEW OF TFIE EXHIBITION To start with, the Foundation organised exhibitions of Lachaise's works in manyAmerican museums, a project continued in 2003 with a travelling show in Europe. After stops in Leeds, Roubaix, Rome and in the Lot Valley in France, the collection reached Budapest, where it w r as expanded with a greater number of works selected by the staff of the Museum of Fine Arts, thanks to the generosity of the Foundation, who put a larger stock at our disposal. The 34 sculptures that were finally installed illustrated the brief, yet influential artistic development, and the various phases of Lachaise's carrier (fig. 75). Alongside the series of smaller bronze sculptures, a few monumental pieces represented the entanglement of sensual passion and artistic creation, and the definitive role Lachaise's oeuvre played in the birth of American modernism.
