44. Damiano Cappelli: Horseman Pursuing a Boar. Paris, Collection of Alain Moatti sculpture. 28 In his study, Bellesi attributed the Budapest bronze statuettes to Damiano Cappelli, on the basis of the Paris small bronzes. 29 Two years later, though he was aware of Bellesi s attribution, Anthony Radcliffe considered the Budapest and the American bronze statuettes to be the works of Ferdinando Tacca - as had Anthea Brook previously. 30 Radcliffe based his assumptions on the fact that Damiano Cappelli had often cast copies after the bronze statuettes of great masters, such as Giambologna, Pietro Tacca, Antonio Susini (1580-1624), Giovan Francesco Susini ( 1585-1653) and Alessandro Algardi ( 1598-1654). Therefore, Radcliffe postulated with good reason that the compositions of the American, the Budapest and the Paris bronze statuettes originate from Cappelli's master, Ferdinando Tacca. 31 28 S.
