There were lecture series for the volunteer museum guides and interested museum visitors, visits to artists' studios and restorers' workshops for the individual and corporate sponsors of the Friends' Circle, and guided tours in the Museum "after closing time", where the participants had the opportunity to have a closer look at some works of art of the Museum, and have an insight into what happens "behind the scenes". The Museum continued the popular tradition of programmes for children and school groups at the week-ends, and the organization of camps for the youngest during the summer holiday. A few paintings of the Museum were restored with the help of the Friends' Circle, including The Adoration of the Three Magi attributed to the Master of the Khanenko Adoration, Dirk Hals's Merry Company (with the support of the English tour guides' training program), and the Portrait of a Man by an unknown Venetian master (with the support of Giovan Battista Verderame, the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Budapest). The charity dinner and auction organized by the Friends' Circle in December 2003 was a great success, with more than 1,000,000 HUF collected for the benefit of the Museum. Translated by T. Sz.
