The Year 2002

LOANS The display of the works of art at the permanent and temporary exhibitions of the Museum of Fine Arts is only one of the ways of presenting the collections to the public. Also significant, and growing in number, are the occasions provided by the loans given to outstanding and often very distant foreign museums and galleries. In 2002, 242 objects represented the Museum of Fine Arts at 47 sites abroad. The receiving institutions include some of the most important and best known museums in the world (among them: Suermont-Ludwig Museum, Aachen; Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam; Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna; Österreichische Nationalgalerie, Vienna; Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin; Uffizi, Florence; Kunsthalle, Hamburg; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Wallraf Richartz Museum, Cologne; National Gallery, London; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Getty Museum, Los Angeles; Prado, Madrid; Musée des Beaux-Arts, Montréal; Haus der Kunst, Munich; Metropolitan Museum, New York; Musée d'Orsay, Paris; Museo del Palazzo Venezia, Rome; National Gallery, Washington). In a smaller number, the museum loaned works also in Hungary to the following institutions: Budapest History Museum, Budapest; Ernst Museum, Budapest; Kassák Museum, Budapest; Kiscelli Museum, Budapest; Hungarian National Gallery, Budapest; Kunsthalle, Budapest; National Széchényi Library, Budapest; Hungarian Museum of Agriculture, Budapest; Dobó István Castle Museum, Eger; Deák Collection, Székesfehérvár.
