21. Duccio di Buoninsegna: Incredulity of St Thomas. Siena, Museo dell'Opera Metropolitana Boskovits 's attribution to Duccio includes the proposal that the panel originally belonged to the predella of no less an important work than the Maestà, which was installed on the main altar of Siena Cathedral in 1311. The present dimensions of the Budapest panel (28,5 x 38 cm) are smaller than those of the predella panels (43,5-44,5 X 44-46 cm), but it may have been downsized. Crucial, however, is the fact that some significant details are at odds with the scenes from the life of Christ that surely belong to the Maestà. First, the red color of Christ's garment is too dark.
