EXHIBITIONS Permanent exhibitions Seicento Painting in Italy From March 23, in the Baroque Hall Curator: Agnes Szigethi (collaborator: Zsuzsa Dobos) 17 th century Italian painting is represented with a particularly rich collection in the Old Masters' Gallery of the Museum, so we opened the newly restored Baroque Hall with this material (fig. 97). In theory, the monumental size of the hall and the predominantly Baroque decoration are a harmonious setting or early Baroque paintings. The major difficulty lay nonetheless in the emptiness and monumentality of the space. There are only continuous wall surfaces on the lateral corridors, which are separated from the central space by pillars and therefore require artificial lighting. Since the central space is suitable for the presentation of sculpture, an exhibition of sculpture will enrich this area next year. 97.
