82. Pablo Picasso: Mother and Child. Budapest, Museum of Fine Arts This small exhibition was organised by the staff of the Department of Egyptian Antiquities as part of the exhibition series "The Work of Art of the Month" (fig. 83). The occasion for the display of animal mummies and pseudo-mummies was provided by the newly executed X-ray examinations of the objects. Vittore Carpaccio: The Blood of the Redeemer June, Renaissance Hall None of Carpaccio's works are owned by Hungarian museums. The temporary exhibition of this large Venetian painting was made possible by a collaboration with the Institute of Italian Culture in Budapest and with the Museum of Udine, which owns the work. The Graphic Works of Pablo Picasso - Hommage à Simon Meiler 1 July - 12 September, Doric Pyramid Exhibition by Judit Geskó In the series of exhibitions on modern art, this exhibition of Picasso's graphic works had an outstanding success. The works were selected and presented in an exemplary way from the modern collection of the Department of Prints and Drawings by Judit Geskó (fig. 82). The first Picasso work was purchased by the Museum in 1908 at the suggestion of Simon Meiler. The exhibition also included a few works by other artists (Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Forain, Casas) whose style and choice of subject matter influenced Picasso's art.
