VADÁSZ, LINDA: Friends of the Museum Celebrate Fifth Anniversary

Later that year we sponsored two Free Days that brought almost 1,000 visitors to the Museum. Visitors had the opportunity to have a rare glimpse at the storage depot, the restoration studio, and to get a view of several seldom seen prints and drawings presented by Andrea Czére Andrea, chief curator of the Department of Prints and Drawings. Over the years several lectures and private tours have been given for the Friends by such curators as István Barkóczi, Szilvia Bodnár, Brigitta Cifka, Zsuzsanna Dobos, Ildikó Ember, Judit Geskó, Mária Illyés, Vilmos Tátrai, Ferenc Tóth, Mária Verő, and Loránd Zentai. We have been honored by our close relationships with key members of the diplomatic community. Aside from the American and British ambassadors, His Excellency, Horacio Chalian, Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina, has served as an honorary member of our Board of Directors. He has hosted two receptions at his residence for our corporate supporters. In addition, we were privileged to have had the Canadian Ambassador, Her Excellency Marta Moszczenska, co-sponsor, along with the Hungarian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, a reception in honor of the return of Giorgio Vasari's Marriage Feast at Cana, which was a war loss from World War II. We have been pleased to have two members of the museum family, István Barkóczi and Zsuzsa Gonda, serve on our Board, and we appreciate their active participation. We hope to continue our work on behalf of Hungary's leading art museum for many years to come. LINDA VADÁSZ
