The historic archives contain the collection of original written or printed documents of historic value and some copies, belonging to our field of interest. The photographic archive covers the documentation of folk architec­ture, settlements, interior furnish­ings and way of life besides pic­tures, taken in the confines of sci­entific research programs. In 2007 it included 76431 items, almost all of which are digitised. The collection of slides relating to the museum field of interest con­tained 18739 items in 2007,11000 of which are digitised. This archive is the greatest and richest folk archi­tectural archive of Hungary, contin­uously increasing. The museum, in cooperation with other institutions often carries out research work and surveys contributing to the protection of built heritage. • Hungarian Folk Architectural Collection [MNÉGY) This contains the scientific bequest (archives, photo and slide collections) of László Vargha (1904-1984), the eminent researcher of folk architecture. It includes photos, slides, architec­tural surveys, drawings, essays, notes and other documents amassed by László Vargha and his colleagues. It contains 2597 items and is in the course of being digitised. The collection also includes 18739 photos (of which 6600 pieces are digitised) and 3914 black and white and colour slides can also be found here. • Tip: Researchers can consult all this material at the museum with prior appointment and research permission and the digitised col­lections are available on the Internet (www.skanzen.hu). The research service (concerning archives and library) is available every day from 8 a.m. till 4 p.m., on Fridays from 8. a.m. till 2. p.m. 189
