Study Collection The predecessors of museums were treasuries where special or exotic objects collected by monarchs or given to them as presents during travels were housed and were accessible only to privileged guests. Our curiosity about rarities and the desire to look inside full stores have remained undiminished over the centuries, although museums have now become cultural institutions available to everyone. Due to a change in the musological practice of the 20th century, namely a differentiation of store and exhibition, only 5% of the objects preserved in the museums of the world are displayed to the public, the remainder is hidden away in special stores. The Study Collection established at Szentendre changes this.
