IX Western Transdanubia - IX-4 Belfry from Felsőszenterzsébet
IX IX-4 Belfry from Felsőszenterzsébet The sacred centre of the regional unit is the belfry. In the 12th century the Church made it compulsory to use consecrated bells. As the small community of Felsőszenterzsébet could not afford to build a church, the 114 Protestants and the 13 Roman Catholics built a belfry. The structure of carved pine logs covered by shingles houses a small bell. It was built in 1778 and the date appears on the openwork tin flag on the peak of the roof. A billboard on the side of the belfry informs us about current events in the village. mumrnrn
