3. THE MUSEUM VILLAGE

The Calvinist grave-yard of Szatmárcseke has beem used since 1850—1870. There are various romantic theories, some consider the posts as „boats", and the decorated front part is supposed to be a human face; they suggest that this refers to a supposed custom of using boats for burial. The eight graveposts from Szatmárcseke were made by the highly esteemed carver József Bóné, a wheelright, and his follower, István Korpás, in 1972, to the order of the Open Air Museum. 60.
