Csaba Valkai, a retired specialist started the overhaul of the railcar in Szentes with the cooperation of the MÁV Nosztalgia Kft. He completely dismantled the railcar no. A164, cleaned it and filled almost two wheelbarrows with the dirt removed from the bogie. He rebuilt the railcar with meticulous care under the supervision of the Skanzen's and the Traffic Museum's staff; he upholstered the seats of the second-class, made the net of the luggage-rack of the third-class and placed the enamel boards. The overhauled railcar was tested on the 11th July 2008 between Szentes and Szegvár. After the successful driving-test the railcar left Szentes on the 15th July 2008 to be completed by a new, special hydraulic engine in the Repair Workshop of Pécs, since its speed in the Skanzen is no more than 15 km/h. It left Pécs and on the way to Szentendre passed through the East Station in Budapest, then left for the Óbuda station where a crane lifted it on a truck to be transported on road to the Skanzen. It was put on the new track on the 4th April 2009. The Skanzen Train was inaugurated with all due solemnity on the 7th April 2007. On the 4th August 2009, in less than 4 months after the first trip, the 50 000th passenger was welcomed. It carried in the first year 86 000 passengers in total. The Skanzen Train received a royal visitor on the 18th March 2010: Charles Prince of Wales dropped in the Skanzen during his Hungary-visit and travelled on the Skanzen Train. 32
