Kassák az európai avantgárd mozgalmakban 1916-1928
4 4 A bécsi emigrációból hazatérve Budapesten is folytatni akarta a nemzetközi együttműködés gyakorlatát. A Herwarth Waldennel folytatott többéves levelezés egyetlen föllelhető darabja Kassák budapesti címére érkezett. A Das junge Schlesien mozgalommal a Ma utolsó időszakában kiépített kapcsolat Budapestről is élő maradt. Back from his emigration in Vienna he wanted to continue the practice of international cooperation also in Budapest. For some time he remained in contact with some avantgarde groupings abroad. In the beginning of 1927 he wrote to the editor of "Zenit", Ljubomir Micic, about the intentions of "Dokumentum" launched in December 1926, and sent the two first issues of the review. The only letter found from his several years' correspondence with Herwarth Waiden had arrived to Kassák's Budapest address. The relation with the movement "Das junge Schlesien" built in the last period of "Ma" remained alive also from Budapest, and Kassák could always count on the work and intermediary activity of Ernő Kállai and László Moholy-Nagy. The main directions of Kassák's international orientation at the time were signalled by his articles and reproductions in "Dokumentum" about Russian constructivism, French surrealism and the activity of "Das junge Schlesien". At the evenings of "Dokumentum" and the Independent New Artists in 1927-28 the information about the endeavours of the European avantgarde and its impact on Hungary was more colourful and complex. The public of Budapest could acquaint themselves with artists like Ivan Göll, Libero Altomare, Marcel Lecomte, Paul Éluard, Kurt Schwitters, Richard Huelsenbeck, resp. Kassák, Tibor Déry, Gyula Illyés, Andor Németh and Zoltán Zelk, Alfredo Casella, Bemard van Dieren, Ernst Toch, Paul Hindemith, Arnold Schönberg, Arnold Bax, Pál Kadosa, István Szelényi and Béla Bartók. This literary and artistic orientation could not be well received in Hungary where the situation had changed radically since 1919. The direction of the new orientation and search for ways and means was signalled in the letter in which the constructivist architect Günter Hirschel-Protsch wrote to Kassák preparing to establish a new movement that "Das junge Schlesien" had founded a proletarian theatre in Breslau in November 1927 and had presented the "proletarian militant show" "The holy war of work" with great success to an audience of 1300.
