In the end, not all of Kertész’s photographs were included in the book, since the author also acquired pictures from another source. The book won the Le Blanc Award of the French Academy. Count Mihály Károlyi and his wife, Katinka Andrássy, had close connections with Hungarian érmigré artists and quite often helped those in financial need. In 1928 excellent portraits and full-figure pictures were taken of the not-so- photogenic Károlyi and his attractive wife, as well as their children.46 Károlyi’s tall figure also appears on the terrace of the Dome coffee house, where Hungarian artists socialised.
