Somebody with a back-ache should be treaded on by a seventh child because then the pain will cease. 49. A child born with teeth will be a wise man. 50. A child born with teeth will be a seer. 51. A child born with teeth will leave home when he is seven, he will be a wizard or the like he will walk inside the storm. 52. A child born with teeth will become a wizard, he is clever, he can tell everything. 53. A child born with teeth will become a fearful person, tíut only if at birth nobody says out loud that he is born with teeth. 54. A child born with teeth will become a wise man, if they don't extract his teeth. 55. Till he is seven years old it must not be mentioned that a child was born with teeth. 56. If a child is born with teeth, it does not mean any good. 57. The bath water of the child must not be poured out, because he won't be able to sleep. 58. The nappies of the child must not be hung out to dry in the evening, because he won't be able to sleep. 59. The rubbish must not be taken out in the evening, because the child won't be able to sleep. 60. You must not sweep outwards because the dream of the child will be swept away. 61. If the nails of a child are cut, he will be a thief. 62. The mother only bit the nails of the child, they did not cut them with scissors. 63. After giving birth, the mother must not go to church for six weeks. 64. If the cradle is rocked when the baby is not in it, they say, that the baby will die. 65. The baby must not look into a mirror, because before he has looked, he can still see himself in his palm. 66. They did not put the child near a mirror, because then he can't sleep at night. 67. You must not hang out the nappies when it is windy, because the baby will be weepy. 68. The nappies have to be taken in for the night, because otherwise the baby will have a tummy-ache. 69. If the baby had a tummy-ache, his mother gave him chewed caraway seeds. 70. If the baby had a tummy-ache, they made tea from mint and made him drink that. 71. If the child was fretful, didn't sleep, they cooked poppy-head, and made him drink the water. 72. When the child was asleep, it was forbidden to look at him, because it can be very harmful. 73. "There are people who have the evil-eye, if they look at a child or a grown-up, that person will become ill, he can even die. The person can't help it that he has the evil-eye." 74. The person whose eyebrows are grown together has the evil eye. 75. Against the evil-eye you have to string nine bits of incense and put it on the neck of the child. 76. Against the evil-eye they spat at the child three times. 77. Visitors spat at the child, against the evil-eye. 78. They spat at the child four times, in the shape of the cross, against the evil-eye. 79. Visitors spat at the child and said: "Let us not cause harm to this child." 80. When visitors came to see a newborn baby, they spat at him and said : "Just like his father." 81. They spat at the child three times and they wiped it off with the wrong side of his shirt. 82. Because the baby was easily harmed by the evil-eye his mother used to wipe his forehead with a nappy wet with piss. 83. To prevent harm by the evil-eye, the baby's shirt was put on inside out. 84. To prevent harm by the evil-eye, they made carbon water. They put three pieces of charcoal in a cup of water and in the meanwhile they said: "neither one, nor two, nor three". 7 Orvostörténeti
