KAPRONCZA Y K.: Az orvostörténelem oktatásának formái a lengyel egyetemeken 71 SUMMARY Tibor Györy, the eminent Hungarian historiographer of medicine in his article published in the journal Orvosképzés (Medical Education) mentioned the contemporary Polish system of medical historical education as a model to be followed.,, The only exception is - regarding this - Poland, where, shortly after the end of the war at every university chairs of medical history have been established: ordinary departments were founded with attached institutes, seminaries and obligatory exams ” - he wrote. However, this successful organization of medical historical education wasn’t a simple task. Every field of culture and education has been no doubt imprinted by previous historical events: by the lack of and independent Polish state, by the wars, revolts and by other political disasters. In Poland the university education, the work of researchers, teachers and students proved to be for a long time seriously handicapped by historical reasons. Author gives a detailed overview on the places, events and main results of this development, and at the same time introduces and evaluates the main schools, trends and personalities of the Polish medical historical education.
