SUMMARY In his short article the author attempts to identify the Hungarian name or diseaese „Szent Antal Tüze" (St. Anthony's Fire). He calls attention to the fact, that this term covers various symptômes, depending on the origin and age of the surrounding text. The author concludes, that, although we can find several solutions, the term „Szent Antal Tüze" can't be identified with one special illness, for, among others, it was used for denoting ignis sacer, herpes, cancer or furunculus as well, as erysepelas or ergotism.
