Van azonban még egy mód, amivel kérdésünkre magyarázatot találni próbálkozhatunk. Az epilepszisz: roham. Véle egyaránt jelölhető a palmosz, az önkéntelen mozgás, a fulladásos roham, a tudatzavar és — mivel ez a szó elsősorban megragadást, lefogást jelent — a bénulás is. A váratlanul mozgásképtelenné vált végtag valóban olyan benyomást kelt, mintha le lenne fogva és hogy a szót tényleg ilyen értelemben használták, meggyőzően bizonyítja, hogy az apoplexiát is ezzel a szóval illeti írásunk. Az epilepszisz sokértelműsége tehát természetessé, talán szükségessé is tette, hogy általa egymástól igen eltérő tüneteket együvé soroljanak. így az orvosi-tünettani elemzés mellett a szemantika segítségével is magyarázható, hogy szerzőnk miért tekintette ezeket a kórképeket azonosnak. SUMMARY In the work, "De morbo sacro", which is known as the classical description of epilepsy, we can recognise the description of carditis rheumatica as well, as that of poliomyelitis. In addition, the Greek author writes about the hemiplegia of the aged too. It would be asked, how could have been these very different diseases considered as the same ones. The treatiser proves, that in the main symptômes of the pathographies — considering the special conditions of the observation — the Greek physicians could have recognised several similarities. On the other hand, with the word „epilepsis" not only the epileptical convulsion is marked, but all the other symptômes, paralysis included. Thus, beside the analysis of the symptômes, we can also explain the same interpretation of the different pathographies on semantical way. IRODALOM 1.
