Summary The author presents the report on the post-mortem examination of the Prince­Primate Barkóczy (1710—1765) on the basis of translation from Latin. The report is remarkable in three respects. First: it concerns the mortal remains of Prince-Primate Barkóczy, whose name is more than a concept of ecclesiastical history. It was upon the incitation of this dignitary that the building of the cathedral of Esztergom was started. Second: Ferenc Markhot, professor at the medical school of Eger (one of the first medical colleges in Hungary) wrote in his capacity as former attending physi­cian of the Prince-Primate, a complementary comment in Latin. Third: the autopsy report was written in the short interval between the official introduction of pathological anatomy (1761) and the foundation of the first Hun­garian medical university (1770). It presents a true picture of the rapid spread and up-to-date use of autopsy in Hungary,
