But our aim was not only to publish new materials, but to present the labours, results and character of the sessions. By that we intended to make the first step in extending our examinations — joined by the researchers of the neighbouring countries—to the effect and role of the centres of higher education and knowledge, formed in the Eastern part of Central Europe, in the valley of the Danube, in the training of physicians and pharmaceutists. An unbiased examination of the role and importance of the medical faculties of Vienna, Prague, Cracow, Budapest (Nagyszombat) and the other towns, the assessment of their influence in the development of public health beyond their boundaries would contribute to better understanding and cooperation between these countries.
